I would have left sometime around the long-lining, escorted out the door for using "family-inappropriate" language. Oh, if there had been security, we so would've gotten thrown out. We didn't realize until almost the end that we were inadvertently sitting in Brock's personal family/friends cheering section, and we are not exactly shy. We kept looking at each other saying, "what the holy shitballs is Redneck McGee doing?" and burst out laughing a couple of times when Brock started talking about his "gentle methods" for dealing with the "high-strung colt." We were NOT on our best behavior! (But we weren't being loud or obnoxious enough to bother the horses...this was all done at a whisper quiet enough to only draw glares from Brock's Great Aunt Cindylou sitting beside us.)

HEEE! Oh man. I am going to endeavor to use "what the holy shitballs is Redneck McGee doing?" in every phrase-appropriate situation from now on.

I've seen "NH" trained horses that will bolt backwards whenever you wiggle a leadrope. That is incredibly hard to unteach, just from personal experience.

Arrgh yeah, that's how someone at this barn got Solomon to move out for the lunge. Nice shortcut that'll probably get someone trampled eventually. I decided after that day that I wasn't gonna do that. Fear breeds more fear. Plus I think it pissed Sol off, and he knows a LOT of tricks when he is feeling obstinate.

From what I've read from her she hasn't made those type of statements. I've not seen her in person though. Sadly, I think a lot of it is about making the buck. That's why I still love and rave about Mark Rashid (www.markrashid.com). He's a local guy who isn't about gimmicks. His books always make me laugh and look at things in a new light. He doesn't have a "fix" for everything. He also doesn't have his own brand of stuff! He does endorse a weird bit that he says works wonders. He didn't make it or anything though. I hope someday to get to a local clinic of his.
I love Mark Rashid!!! I've read quite a few of his books and he has some really great ideas. He also isn't one to believe that his way of dealing with problems is the only way. I remember in one of his books he said that these methods worked well for him, but it may not work for other people and horses. He seems very flexible with his methods. He is a horseman, not a salesman.
