At the place Calley went to they have a Standardbred mare with EPM they thinking about breeding. She has been treaded and has no signs ( that are obvious to me) of EPM. They said she just got a whole lot better recently. I'm not sure what she has been treaded with and on the exact History but was just interested if it can be passed on. EPM is very common in Standardbreds here but Thank God I never had to deal with it.
There should be no issues with breeding her if she's been treated (usual treatment is a medication called Marquis which is expensive but kills off the protozoa - it does not repair any damage done to the nervous system) and is not showing symptoms that would impair her ability to physically manage being pregnant (added weight, etc).
