My assumption would be that he needs more work on the right side. Most horses are always handled on the left side. I noticed you said that he knows how to yeild HQ, maybe you should drill him on the right side more. But what I do when they kick out at me in the roundpen is I scream "Ah ah ah!" and I chase them until they dont want to move anymore. I make their lungs talk to them.
