Unless you're drinking straight, strong, black tea, I think tea still results in a net gain of water in the system. I don't know about Crystal Light, but tea will certainly hydrate you especially if you drink it weak-medium strength and/or drink lots of green or oolong teas. I start the morning with ginseng and ginger oolong, then a black peach tea and either jasmine or gunpowder tea in the afternoon. I also frequently double steep, i.e., re-use my tea leaves. This is because I'm a raging tea junky, though, and think water is for suckers. I may be inclined to enable tea drinking.
