CDC, I drink around 4-5 pots a day of tea and almost no straight water. I am never dehydrated. Unless you're drinking straight, strong, black tea, I think tea still results in a net gain of water in the system. I don't know about Crystal Light, but tea will certainly hydrate you especially if you drink it weak-medium strength and/or drink lots of green or oolong teas.

I start the morning with ginseng and ginger oolong, then a black peach tea and either jasmine or gunpowder tea in the afternoon.

I also frequently double steep, i.e., re-use my tea leaves.

This is because I'm a raging tea junky, though, and think water is for suckers. I may be inclined to enable tea drinking.

I love love tea. Especially sun tea. I drink enough water daily (atleast 2 liters of plain water) but anymore than that and I sort of want to "treat" myself to something more flavorful. I don't like drinking sodas regularly, so I find keeping a water-type beverage handy is better, and its also healthier but still yummier than plain water.

Only drawback to tea however, is I do like to add sugar in my tea (southern tea is like syrup LOL) I don't add as much as everyone else does though!! Hmm
