I agree. A helmet is no guarantee that one should remain safe, it is however a good precaution. It's just like a seat-belt, just because you're wearing one if you get in a car accident doesn't mean you aren't going to get hurt. You might just not get hurt as bad.
A couple years ago, near by me, a 12 year old girl was killed when her 'bombproof' gelding dumped her and then took off, trampling her skull. She was wearing a proper riding helmet. 


So many things wrong with the OP. A totally preventable tragedy.
