Well, without the chemo a lot of people with cancer would die from the cancer. There's risk in any medical procedure; there's a risk if you take aspirin. There's really no way to "be careful" of chemo. It's basically poison, to kill the cancer cells.

A gal I know had breast cancer when she was about 23. This was nearly 30 years ago that she got diagnosed. The cancer was well advanced and she was given a very poor prognosis; nothing standard was going to work. She had a 2 year old son at the time. She ended up getting into some experimental thing after her mastectomy and man, they gave her chemo that must have been like drano. She looked like a freakin junkie, her veins were all shot from this stuff it was the devil. She barely survived the chemo, but 5 years later was still cancer free and had reconstructive surgery. She's AOK today, all these years later. No reoccurence of any type of cancer. When they put her on the experiment chemo she had to sign all kinds of waivers in case it killed her. Her thought was what the hell, there is NO chance of surviving without something, give me anything you got.
