It kinda sounds like your saying if he has more money than brains, that my horse is a piece of shit.
Sort of like how everyone here overpays like crazy for a certain warmblood from a certain country, no matter the quality.
I can't speak for TRD, but it sounds to me as though he's saying that it makes little sense to buy a trail horse (who isn't a trail horse) in Texas to ship to WV and then send over to Australia. And I agree. To me, that sounds ridiculous.
but paying big bucks and importing a horse makes it seem more special, and is often an ego thing
The double registered thing, though, just isn't that big a deal outside the US.
I haven't seen a single person say anything remotely resembling "tearing this mare down."
But yes, that's a hell of a lot of money to spend on shipping when there is likely a quality individual already in Australia who'd fill the same role just as well.
It appears to be a new concept to recognize the value in paying good money for a breeding quality horse, especially when there are so many rescues to choose from.
It is 100% about the logistics of the buyer's decision.
