At the beginning of this thread, all was pretty nice. For a short time. Then along comes TRD with this shit:
All her sale proves is that you found a buyer with more money then brains....
The word is "than". "Then" changes the meaning of the sentence. Nothing was said about the cost of shipping here, so that could be taken a number of ways.

Then HnH responds to TRD, which includes this sentence:
It kinda sounds like your saying if he has more money than brains, that my horse is a piece of shit.
It looks like HnH took the comments the same way I did.

Then came this comment by shiggins, which could also be taken a number of ways:
Sort of like how everyone here overpays like crazy for a certain warmblood from a certain country, no matter the quality.
In other words, "overpays" for lesser quality...not "overpays for shipping". "Quality" being the key word here, not shipping costs.

BIWAP says:
I can't speak for TRD, but it sounds to me as though he's saying that it makes little sense to buy a trail horse (who isn't a trail horse) in Texas to ship to WV and then send over to Australia. And I agree. To me, that sounds ridiculous.
"Isn't a trail horse"? What is that supposed to imply? Again, that could be taken a number of ways, but no explanation of which it is was offered. Not until later.

but paying big bucks and importing a horse makes it seem more special, and is often an ego thing
In other words, paying big bucks (and the cost of shipping) is something only an idiot would do. Could also be taken several ways.

Another comment that could be taken as downplaying the value of the mare, by galen98:
The double registered thing, though, just isn't that big a deal outside the US.
Says who? I know people who value double registered horses, even in other countries.

And TWO says:
I haven't seen a single person say anything remotely resembling "tearing this mare down."
No? How about this from TWO:
But yes, that's a hell of a lot of money to spend on shipping when there is likely a quality individual already in Australia who'd fill the same role just as well.
...implying the same quality or better can be found in Australia. Another reason I spoke up about the quality of the mare and the selection criteria of the buyer that must be considered.

Then my first post in its entirety, which was in response to HW's question, and because I got the same impression that the posts above were somehow questioning this buyer's sanity for buying HnH's mare:
It appears to be a new concept to recognize the value in paying good money for a breeding quality horse, especially when there are so many rescues to choose from.
Oh, how utterly despicable of me to say that!

Then BIWAP again, speaking to everyone's comments about the buyer:
It is 100% about the logistics of the buyer's decision.
Could have fooled me!

And it goes on...and on.

Do you all see how the written word can be taken differently, even if the opinions weren't intended to give certain impressions? The general tone was "that buyer has more money than brains...he could have found what he was looking for in Australia." I would have been offended if that was my mare I just sold, too. A few mentioned the shipping costs, and a few pretty much said, "that much for just a trail horse?" Someone even said, "that much for a trail horse that isn't a trail horse", whatever that is supposed to mean. That's where I got upset and defended the quality of HnH's mare vs. owners of a bunch of backyard rescues (which I still believe is the majority of the posters here). In reality, that isn't the demographics of those knowledgeable in all things breeding quality. Twenty-year-olds are also not the group where the bulk of knowledge lies as it pertains to breeding and quality (which is the age group that makes up the majority of the population here). So, yeah, my remarks were said with those things in mind. But I'm being "condescending". I am not allowed to misunderstand your comments, but by golly, rip me apart and don't give me the benefit of the doubt. Hell no.

Yes, I've had it with people who are not qualified to make those judgments, or are old enough or have the experience behind them to tear down those who are qualified. Many of you don't even recognize it when someone knows what they're talking about because many of you are too illiterate to see it. Yes you are. You know who you are. No, this isn't about me. I don't want it to be about me or my horse, but some of you always make it about me or my horse. You have nothing else but the attack dog mentality and the bandwagon.

If this were such a good place, all rainbows and butterflies, and you were all the perfect angels you make yourselves out to be, then many of the very knowledgeable, logical, extremely educated and literate, friendly, generous people who used to be here, would still be here. Unfortunately, many are not. I wonder why they left? It is partly due to you believing you have every right to YOUR opinions and snark, any time, any place, directed at anyone you choose, yet others do not have the right to their opinions without being chastised for them.

So, what is it going to be? Understand where I and a few others are coming from (benefit of the doubt), or do you attack some more because something wasn't quite worded to your satisfaction?

I want to dissociate myself from your opinion. Maybe something bothers you, of which I don't know what it is. When that is the case, I would have preferred if you would have told me that personally, instead of putting your opinion on Facebook. FSH. I really regret your misunderstanding."
