Too bad it's a 4 hour drive for me or I'd go and watch.

I think I'm going to go watch the regular monthly sale in Missoula on Tuesday. Unfortunately I'll miss the loose horse sale due to my finals schedule, so I won't really be able to compare prices, but maybe I'll take off work next month so I can go see how prices are looking.

How do draft horses sell there Natrl? Or are there occasionally any?

I need to stay away from auctions...such a good thing I board or I would definitely be bringing home something at least occasionally.

I don't know that there have been any drafts go through this one, mostly local saddle horses, some broodmares and young stock. It is nice that some of the ranchers that attend will talk to my friend and haver her help them find homes directly, everybody seems to be fairly friendly. After the last sale this gelding was needing a home, he is in foster currently and I believe he is available:

A rancher who met me at the sale yards Tues called to 'donate' a horse: 18 y.o. Ottb, sound, healthy, dead broke and used as ranch horse. He raced for his dad in NM, but has been used on cows ever since. Kids ride bareback. Tall, teeth just done... At any rate, met Jim at the stockyards yesterday. Mariah, Brandy (auction mares) and Justa Flynn are safely in the mountains of the Rocky Mountain Front. For a 20 year old, the OTTB looked GREAT. Very thin, but otherwise great shape. The rancher donated his win photo.
