The first issue is not all hens will brood.  I don't have any that will.  The eggs I have are from other chickens all over the country.  I have a variety of different kinds.  If I had a broody hen I might put some of the eggs under her but these eggs were super expensive, especially the peafowl eggs.  I have six chicken eggs that cost $15 a piece. They're Frizzle/Polish tolbunt crosses.  They usually bring at least $150 a pair at the auction.  Leaving them under a hen is much easier, but I love having eggs in the incubator.
