The birth was hard because the foal got stuck.  Her shoulders are huge and her legs are so long.  I've never had to help pull a foal before but I did this time.  It was quite stressful and I was "this" close to calling the vet when I finally got the shoulders free.  Once I did I stepped back and she finished pushing her out.  The rest of it went great, she stood up well and nursed awesome.  Burnie has been an amazing mother.  Sometimes with maidens they get a little freaked out when the foal tries to nurse but it's like she was born to do this.  She stood absolutely still and let baby do the work.

The foal is very friendly and bold.  Nice open shoulder angle so hopefully Cali gets that movement she wants for EP.  I think Cali will be very pleased with her baby.

OH and my middle child has named her Sally.  Sorry Cali!
