Burnie had other plans obviously. I've never had a mare go this quickly with hardly any signs at all. Those maidens. image

Yep - if only they all read Blessed Are The Broodmares or other foaling manuals and went by the book...
Well done, Burnie and EVA! Lovely filly!

Everything was quiet and then all of a sudden the baby did a little nicker. Burnie brought her head up so fast it was comical. I literally LOL'ed. It was like she was thinking "holy shit! What IS that and where did it come from?"

Years ago I helped a maiden mare that heard that little nicker and literally climbed up the wall in fright. Maybe she thought she had just pooped or something and now it was talking to her! But she figured it out and all was well.

It is the next sound that you hear - that soft little hnhmnnhnhmnnnhmmm nostril-flutter of recognition and love from the mare that makes all the long hours of mare stare and worry about foaling melt away... it is my favourite sound in the world. image
