If she's not naturally gait-ed, then she's not a natural fox trotter either. You have to push them into a running walk to get into a type of Foxtrot, but it's actually a running walk. We say here in Texas when they finally reach that speed that it's sounding right when it sounds like when we say, "Piece a meat & two potatoes, Piece a meat & two potatoes" that's the beat it has.

But since she's not a natural, it will be ok to teach her the square & long(extended) trot too. That way you can push her into the lope easier from a long trot.
