I was at the barn tonight and started talking to this guy who just moved his horse to our barn. Turns out he just go the horse and was all proud because he was free. He tells me that he wants to start getting him shape to ride and that he has to put shoes on him. I told him that I'd just ride him and see how he does without shoes. He said the horse has been standing in a field for a few years without shoes but that he thinks the horse did have shoes before because he "can see the rings on the bottom of his feet where the shoes were."

Hahaha...........

OK sorry to be the village idiot but what rings was he talking about? The vertical bands of hoof wall growth, or the semi-circle hoofprint left in the dirt?
