I disagree. In my opinion 2 years old is too young to be starting, regardless of the horse. I don't think people who choose to follow a guideline of ages have worthless opinions. In the horse world, MOST people are very opinionated. The best trainers are those that are flexible and adapt to the individual horse, but that doesn't mean they don't try to follow a more concrete timeline as well. Personally I have never backed a horse younger than 3, and start serious training at 4. I also prefer to wait longer until jumping training, I didn't start my mare over fences until she was 5.

I don't mean disrespect KG, but you might want to turn that finger back around to yourself. I hope I'm not thinking of the wrong person, but the impression I've gotten from you is that you are a very critical and opinionated person as well.
