I have experienced most variations in horse keeping - pasture board, self-care, full-care, and at home.

IF you can afford it and IF you can find a place to board that is convenient to get to every day, has other boarders and a BO/manager that are like you and aren't raving lunatics, and provides first-rate care and facilities, then full board at said stable is the greatest thing.

But, given that it is my experience that such facilities are scarcer than hens' teeth (plus the pesky "afford it" thing), I have opted to keep my mules at home and probably always will. However, I admit that keeping them at home does have disadvantages, chief among them being having to find horse sitters if you want to go away and not having someone there to ride with or provide inspiration, encouragement, and advice.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.
