This one makes me wince more than the slipper-feet examples. Not to say those aren't awful of course.   I think  this one bothers me because it looks like the hoof is barely holding on and with little effort one could peel a whole section off.  As well I wonder if those sections may not be connected well to each other and as the horse steps, the sections may move and shift independently.  The living, inner part of the foot is hardly protected and I would think this has to hurt.
