And please. Whatever you decide to feed your horse, GIVE IT TIME to work. That is the number one thing i find with people who are looking to put weight on their horse. Its not going to happen overnight and you don't want to do it too fast. Give the body time to use the nutrients you are choosing. The worst thing you can do is to jump around in feeding plans.

I can't tell you how many people i meet that complain their horse isn't gaining weight and if you look down at the horses feet, you will see nutritional rings in the hoof. If they gave their horse time to use the program they designed, you wouldn't see 6 rings on the hoof. Sorry, i'm sure you are not like this...just remember..be patient and feed your horse what you are comfortable with. Every horse is different, but it does take time.

And i'm not sure about how much time it will take. Each horse is different. Its been my experience that it takes 3-6 mos to put weight back on a horse. Then again, i took back a retired horse of mine from a "retirement home" who had him on one of these 23 point programs...he was 200+ underweight. That was in Oct 2007...its July and i can just barely see his ribs. He took a long time to come around.
