It does seem VERY strange. We've had 2 horses die of sudden 'freak' things in the last 2 years (out of nearly 30 that have been at our yard in that time). One boarder's mare and one school pony gelding. One sudden acute colic overnight in a horse that had never been known to colic before (vet thought it was a heart attack until an autopsy was done) and one unautopsied but thought to be a stroke.

I don't even like SAYING that because it sounds fishy to have horses die suddenly at ALL. I mean, our YO has had horses 50+ years and never had one just die before, it just isn't common. So it doesn't sound good to say 2 have died suddenly, even if we know there was nothing we could have done to prevent it.
