This is sad.

I still feel awful when I hear someone is hurt or killed by an impaired driver. A good friend of mine was killed when we were 16 by another friend who was driving stoned. She picked up two friends to take them to Wal-Mart and they had just gotten in the car when she made her car "dance" around the road. My other friend made it out, but she has permanent back and knee damage from the accident. Because no one tested her for marijuana at the scene, the friend who killed my other friend never faced charges. She walked away and proceeded to get into another accident a few months later where she totalled her 3rd car -most likely also drunk, but not tested for it.

And then there was the damage done to another friend. Guy was high and plowed through 4 stopped cars at a light going 55 mph. My friend's BRAND NEW car was completely destroyed and she was in the hospital for many days. Awful.

LS and everyone else, I am very sorry for your losses.

As for "legal" drug use and driving, I won't do it. I take several medications for migraines which impair my ability to drive so much that I cannot function. This is why I refuse to drive when I have a migraine. I have explained it to people in the past only for them to stare at me like I have two heads.

And, speak of the devil, sober driver program is on the news!
