All I can say is AMEN!

I'm only 14, and I KNOW I don't know everything about horses, conformation, etc. True, I may know more than most of my friends, but compared to the adults at my barn, I know nothing!

I still have my first horse, I only got her  last year. She is teaching me loads! I don't think there is anything wrong with still owning your first horse. But buying, selling, and dealing with a lot of different horses gives you experience.

So my philosphy is to listen to your elders. They are living textbooks! We can learn so much from them! I know I have already and I know I'll learn a lot more still!
I don't think there is anything wrong with still owning your first horse, either. You have a great attitude, and you will go far if you keep thinking like you do! My comment regarding first horses is more in line with Melyni's post, which is a good post as well. Kudos to you! I say, find yourself some great mentors, and learn all you can from them. I'll be 56 years old in April, and I still have my mentors to this day. They are all older than I am, with more life's experiences and knowledge than I have. I recognize that, and I admire that. They are to be treasured, even if they're harsh or grouchy at times.
