Lsrd, I agree. That's why I'm having a hard time with this!

Squishy, I agree here too. I feel proud that my HS was VERY involved when it came to special ed. Our kids always had a special place with the football, basketball and baseball/softball programs and with parental involvement for some of the more severely disabled and on their own for the higher functioning, they get to pick which sport they worked with for the year. It helped because we had trimesters (love). So they had after school involvement as well as class time devoted to being included. "The Dream Team" is a big deal at my highschool. I wish more schools would follow suit. It kinda weirded me out at first honestly, that the kids at my school were so much more accepting than at my previous schools. We had 3 DS kids that would sit at our tables at lunch. They always sat with the "popular kids" and were included in conversation. It's made a big impact on me seeing such acceptance that is taught at an early age in this district. I love it. Funny to me because as mean as some of those in my class were to each other, they were always there for the Special Ed kids.

NMFD, those all sound great. REALLY reinforces that our budget cuts in Texas are a big fuck up. Morons. I don't know why they don't realize that cutting out education is fucking idiotic.
