Several points:

1. I would veto anti-male-spandex laws, because watching a fit bicyclist struggling up a steep hill in spandex bike shorts, with his ass hiked in the air, gives me a reason to get up in the morning.

2. Ditto to everything NMFD said about education, but I would add art to that list. Art teaches creative thinking and healthy self-expression, both of which are skills that I believe are sorely under-emphasized in kids. Besides, if one of the points of school is to prepare all students for adult careers, cutting art programs fails those students who are destined for lives as animators, graphic artists, designers, drafters, architects, photographers, etc. Cut sports programs to pay for them, far more kids will go on to professional art careers than professional sports careers. Sports are good to have in schools, too, but the kids don't need million-dollar stadiums or trips all over the state to benefit from them.

3. Allow more leeway for governments to re-allocate funds where needed. It burns me that my county is cutting hundreds of teaching jobs and upping class sizes, is millions of dollars in debt, but is building a multi-million dollar government complex, just built a pretty but completely useless turnabout, and is putting in cobblestone crosswalks because they had the money for those projects and needed to spend it on SOMETHING or they'd lose it. As I understand it, they had to spend it on transportation and government buildings, they were not permitted to use it on anything it was not allocated for, even if there were more important things in need of funding.

4. For god's sake, legalize hemp production. It's not pot. It's an incredibly useful industrial product that could be a massive boon to agriculture, paper and textile production, could save far-harder-to-replace forests, and even makes better ethanol at less environmental cost than corn. IT'S NOT POT. YOU CAN'T GET STONED ON IT. THERE IS NO GOOD REASON FOR IT TO BE ILLEGAL. The only argument I've seen that didn't basically revolve around "omg it's pot" was, "cops won't be able to tell the difference." Most cops aren't stupid. Teach them the difference, you can tell pretty easily if you know what to look for.

5. Overall, there are already too many laws. The laws we need to run as a society are in place, they're just not enforced. We don't need more laws, for the most part. We need common sense and funding to enforce what's there.
