Sundee, nah I dropped out of curls a while back. Jackie and I are oil and water, and since she was queen bee over there and the only support I got was from member's emailing me privately and keeping their mouths shut publicly, I left the group behind. It must not have spilled over to the crossbred or gaited curly lists much. DISH! What happened?

The lady who owned Elko Nevada had a huge herd of unhandled mares and foals.  I think there was one other stud besides Elko.  She did know who the sires were.  She did one of those "omg if you don't buy my horses before Saturday they'll go to auction" things.  Most of them were like $500.  So this Swam Creek chick picks up a whole bunch of them including Elko.  Another lady had negotiated for Elko but she couldn't take him until spring.  So behind that lady's back, Swan Creek brought him home and "bought" him.  No deposit was made or anything so while it's dirty there was nothing illegal.  Then the Swan Creek chick gets on all the curly lists badmouthing Elko.  She talks about how he's not 14.2hh at all and he's nasty with arthritis and unhandled.  She also tears apart his conformation (all fairly accurate I think).  Despite all this she had like 10 mares bred to him.  I called her on this and she informed me that her mares were of such quality that they would make up for the poor quality stud.  I wonder why you'd waste a breeding to your "quality" mares when you've got such wonderful Andalusians to breed to?  Then out of the blue, she cuts him.  There's a huge uproar since he's one of the "foundation" studs.  Several people would have taken him if they'd know what her plans were.  She makes excuses and talks again about what crap he is.  Then a couple months later she posts this long, nearly incoherent message about how Elko had some sort of testicular tumor that had to be removed but he's still got one ball so she's going to keep breeding him.  He'd settled mares after this surgery.

Crazy?  Yeah ....
