It may have already been said, but I think reiners ride like they do to mostly stay out of the horses way. They're supposed to respond to the lightest of cues, both leg and hands. That's what first came to mind about the video the OP posted; that horse is only 5, so he/she's pretty young, and the rider might have been trying to stay out of the way.

OMG. I LOVE Gunner! What makes him even more amazing is that he's been deaf since birth. I love watching that horse. I'd love to see him in person (or better yet, have my own Gunner offspring someday!)

I agree! I love it when his ears go all floppy.. and I too would love a Gunner-baby (or a whole barn of them!). I'm a little hesitant to admit it my longing to own a Gunner foal, because I know some people on this board don't agree with breeding him due to his "defect" (re: deafness). I remember a thread that he got brought up in. Regardless, I'd love to own one of his offspring someday.
