I never got acne in high school or during the years when other girls seem to. I didn't start getting breakouts until the year I started college (05). Ever since then it's been a battle. NOTHING I tried worked. Found out it was hormonal which is why none of the topical stuff, or even the antibiotics I tried at one point, would work. I didn't want to go on the pill at the time because of other issues it had the potential to cause, but I did get on it last Fall.

However....right around the same time I started the pill, I started drinking MORE water and LESS pop. My face cleared up tremendously. At first I wasn't sure if it was the pill doing it or the water, but I've been OFF the pill for 3 months but kept up the water drinking and my acne has stayed away. I still get the occasional small pimple, but it's NOTHING like I had before.

I'm sure my acne was still hormone-related (a good indicator is that my jawline, chin, neck and even chest would break out the worst, especially with those deep, cystic pimples on my jaw. It was not only ugly but painful. I haven't had that issue since I started drinking more water, even since stopping the pill.

I still use a basic astringent each night before I go to bed and wash my face with, believe it or not, antibacterial hand soap, at least once a day (usually twice if I remember), but other than that, no "special" treatments. Water has been my saving grace for my face. I'm kicking myself for not boosting my water intake earlier.

If you're wrong, admit it.  If you're right...shut up!
