Are hock sores really that common with everyone? We are on hard-as-cement clay in the summer and I've never had a problem with hock sores.

I know people that bed their stalls 10in deep and still have hock sores...  Honestly, most of the horses I've been around them have them.  They're more common than not around here, even on horses out 24/7.  Tess doesn't have them, but I suspect it's because she likes to lay ON the roundbale.  I'd say more than 3/4 of the horses I know have them, those that are stalled and those that are out.  I've never thought it was big of a deal until it was made an issue here, just par for the course.
