Probably not accurate for all mares but I know when Libby was about an hour away from foaling, she was really hot to touch and agitated. Feeling her body being so hot, I knew the bub was coming. Everyone told me she wouldnt eat before foaling so that was a good indicator...except she held off foaling, waiting for her dinner. As soon as she finished her dinner, she dropped and foaled.

I'm not sure if having a raised body temperature to touch is a common sign or if that is just her.
