^ Definitely going to sand & prime. I actually bought the primer months ago with the intention of starting the project. I'm at least lucky that the majority of the doors are brand new and not up - the old doors I found replacements for will be dumped.

I painted the kids' bathroom last year and used white on the cabinet. After I did it, I thought "um, are you stupid or something?" but it stays okay-clean. The kitchen cabinets would never as grubby little hands are always touching them. (they rarely open the bathroom vanity doors) I'd like to do white cabinets in the kitchen but not until my kids have flown the nest.


I painted kitchen cabinets before and didn't sand.  I just did a good double wash with TSP.  They were not painted though, they were (icky) stained.

My current cabinets are painted white and it's a pain.  You can tell which doors the three men use:  coffee cabinet and peanut butter cabinet
