It's very hard to go from something neutral to color. I had a boring tan and white room, I was told to make myself a place to relax and calm down for medical reasons. So I created my "Zen Den." I love purple, so I actually went DARK purple (to create a "smaller" space and a cozier feeling)... a deep plum in color for the walls, a shade lighter for the trim. Then, on the closet doors, the main door, and on opposing walls, I sponge-painted a lighter shade of purple. So two walls are solid, two sponged. The effect was LOVELY, the sponging was really easy to do. But even small changes can make a big difference. Good luck!
