I dont have any advice on which gun, but I can say that there are a couple horses I've had to put down where I wished I had used a gun rather than the shot from the vet. I am still troubled by watching the one mare fight it with everything she had, it took FOREVER for the chemicals to work and for her to finally die. It was horrible.

I had to put my old mare down earlier this year, and the vet did it. Thankfully, she went quickly, almost seemed like as soon as the needle went in, she was gone. Wasnt that quick, but it seemed like it.

But you just never know how they are gonna react to the drugs. Most often then not its gone smoothly and pretty quick, but there were those 2 that didnt go well. I would def go with the gun. Just cant offer any advice on it since I have never gone that route.

Good for you for making the tough decision though. I know its never easy!
