I think it is a lot better now.

It was a typical boom town - very few families, mostly non-native people, and that caused it's own conflicts. They moved guys from Newfoundland in by the plane full, it was too expensive to take their families to, there were no places to live, supplies were limited, guys lived in camps, there was lots of booze and drugs and fighting because the guys had nothing better to do. It was a very tough place to live in the late 80's and early 90's when we were up there. It was the dream place to get rich and go home, but it was so expensive to live there that most never got any farther ahead. Think Gold Rush Fever and that is what Fort Mac was.

It is a city now, there are lots of family people, there is a city structure in place.
