Amen. People can be so insane to deal with. I got a lot of practice with it, I used to manage a truck stop. Now, I work with unemployment. So when we get irate callers, for me it's a cakewalk. People just fly off the deep end. They don't realize that being nice and reasonable will get you MUCH more than screaming and ranting. One of my favorite things to do is the meaner they get, the more dulcet I get. It just confuses the fuck out of them!
Dishonor fee? I LOVE IT! Sounds like you should get a notice on your Blackberry:
You have incurred a dishonor fee on your bank account! Fall on your sword NOW!
Of course this reminded me too... it doesn't only apply to phones. My (ex) husband and I were leaving WalMart one time. We were heading out the Garden Center (it MAY have been around Christmas) and we had a tote we'd bought, with some stuff in it, along with some bags in hand. Well, perfectly understandable to me, the older gentleman at the door asked to see our receipt. And my EH proceeded to rant and rave that he didn't have to show this man anything, that he was offended at being accused of stealing. And he went on and on, just to get out of pulling the receipt from his pocket. So I walked off, fully intending to leave the lout there. He caught up, of course, but then he got the earful from me about his despicable behavior.
