Having worked in a call center before (specifically, tech support), I can definitely vouch for the fact that you'll usually get far more help if you refrain from being a dick. Also, you won't get notes on your case that say things like, "I believe cu (customer) may run with scissors," or "cu is uncooperative and lacks social skills, ask to speak to 8-year-old daughter as she is more skilled on a computer and with people." Or my personal favorite, "cu's skills in verbal abuse far outstrip ability to follow simple instructions."
