Well, here is what two of my friends, who are both retired Senior Master Sergeants in the Air Force, think:

I hate that I missed it... I would have been more interested in the reactions of the people that work side by side with me tho... I believe in equality for everyone; unfortunately, I worked with many who didn't...

@Robert, agreed and also some of the civilians (not you) who work for the gov't....once they hit their 1 year probation period - do nothing because no one can fire them. There are so many more issues to be concerned with. I just wish I was still active at a time like this because I would be putting some people in their places. Hell, I'll do it now as an old crusty retiree;) [AP in: this person is actually younger than I am, she joined the AF about two years after I did, she just retired within the last year her husband is still active duty]

Just had a very interesting conversation with my Father who is a WWII, Korean and Vietnam vet. I really thought he would be against this, but to my surprise he supports it 100%. Even in his day he knew he was serving along side homosexuals, but to him it didn't matter. It was more about life and death and having each others back....things that were really important back then....should be important now.

The briefings were shut up,listen, the populace was not there to debate, briefed by the JAG. It's about strength of body and soul not who you like to sleep with. We should focus on all the fat, lazy broken GIs who can't do their jobs and waste tax payer dollars. [AP again: Robert served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and probably spent about three years in the two countries, he retired in 2008]

But WTH do they know, they only made military service their careers.

The vast majority of military members do not give a rat's ass about who is gay and who isn't.  They didn't 20 years ago (before DADT when it you weren't even allowed to join the military if you were gay, admitted or not, and could and would be court-martialled if it was discovered you were), and they care even less today.

I get that you feel bad. You should. But feeling butt hurt doesn't solve the problem.
