I forget Brad, have you ever served in any of the armed services?
Nope. So I leave the choices up to them. How do they feel about it? The kinda guys that are really doing the fighting and dying. They do the service and make the sacrifices. Ever see the living quarters on a submarine? Some of these people spend months on end without the luxury of privacy.

Yes, you are right, homosexuals have been in the military since there were wars. But when you make it official that openly gay people can serve , what are the unintended consequences? Even in the rest of society, discreet gay people will tell you that people that have to be perpetually in your face with their political statements wears real thin after a while.See the Emmys the other night? Ever hear someone preface a statement with " as a practicing heterosexual" .Should I remind you of my sexual orientation at every opportunity?  Sounds absurd, doesn't it?

You are tolerated. You are accepted. Just because I'm a Christian  with bib overalls and a shotgun doesn't mean I wanna beat you up ( and why doesn't your assumption it does mean that you are being ignorant and intolerant?) . Mostly I wanna mind my own business.

Can we move on now?

No.  We can NOT just move on now.

EQUALITY is about being able to believe in God or Purple Flying Unicorns or someone's RIGHT to love whomever they damn well please.  Whether it's Jesus, Allah, Charlie the Unicorn, a simple human woman or a simple human man.

Did we just move on when there was no freedom of religion?  When you weren't allowed to believe in your brand of God, but perhaps forced to believe in someone else's?

Did we just move on when women stood up to have the same rights as men?

Did we just move on when blacks finally fought for the same rights as whites?
