My bad chemical euthanasia story from the early 90s:

At our boarding stable, we had a horse who had to be put down.

The owners waited too late to call the vet out for a colic, and the horse's system was so shutdown by the time he got there, that the three (or four) doses of barbiturate did not work to kill her. Normally, one would be enough. He didn't have any more with him, there wasn't a gun around and so I had to help him strangle her. That was horrible. I had to hold her nostrils shut. Honestly, I was so upset that I don't remember at all what he was doing.

I've since had one horse (Gamal) put down chemically, and three shot. Gamal went peacefully with his head in my lap, I wasn't in the vicinity for the shootings - I got out of the area. My husband is a hunter, he can deal with it.

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

People with true credibility and integrity don't need to tell other people how great they are. They also don't need to belittle other people to feel superior.
