Freud would disagree.

Pffft - Freud was hung up on his mother.

Interesting factoid about Freud - when he was starting out, he discovered a lot of his patients (all women) had been sexually abused by their fathers or other male relatives.  So he presented his findings in a paper in... Vienna? - I'm really not sure where.  The outcry from the rest of the shrink set was so alarming to him that it became clear his career would be terminated if he continued to propose such vile and obviously false data.  He was told that his patients were lying to him.

He re-examined his own data and came up with the theory that instead of incest, these women were expressing a desire to sleep with their fathers, which he named the Electra Complex.

Modern psychoanalysis - born from cowardice.
