The military is there to kill people and break their stuff. We are looking for eighteen year olds who want to do just that. There is a reason they don't recruit middle aged men.( Actually, a whole bunch of them.) And now we want them to be all PC and Kumbaya as well. Is that realistic? Is it fair?

I don't think anybody's asking for PC (horrid waste of the First Amendment, IMO) and Kumbaya (worst song in history, also IMO) - we STILL want 18 year olds who want to kill people and break their stuff.

The repeal of DADT just means we can get MORE 18 year olds who want to kill people and break their stuff, that's all.

Most gay 18 year olds I've known would prefer a Lady Gaga concert over invading a country. lol (read that as *most* and those who *I've* known) That being said I do know 1 gay marine who loves lady gaga as MUCH as invading a country.

Fixed that for you. The majority of 18 year olds in our country DON'T want to be in the military. They DONT want to fight in a war. The majority would rather go to a concert than be in the military. Hell, a lot of people enlisting now don't actually want to be in the military. They just want the benefits it provides.

Then they should get the fuck out. I would MUCH rather work with a homosexual that wants to be in the military to serve their country than some kid who just wants free medical and some college money. I've worked with too many people that are just in it for the benefits; time comes to go somewhere and they find some bullshit excuse to get out of it. Or they injure themselves (or fake injury) to get more benefits. Don't want them!

Personally I don't care if someone I work/live/shower with is gay. Don't care. I don't think I've met very many Marines that really DO care. A lot agreed with DADT because they thought allowing gays to be open would cause a lot of drama with people who actually DID care; but very few actually do. There's a few ignorant folks out there who care, but the majority of us really don't.
