Good points all around. I like a colorful busy tank, and what AE said about slightly crowding an all male peacock / hap juvenile group should be about the least aggressive cichlid ( Malowi ) gang to try. You just have to resign the frequent water changes ( ordered a 2 way water syphon to hook up to kitchen sink, 50 ft away hee hee hee ) and great filteration * hopefully investing in the Fluval X5 will be enough.

I also have a good LPS to rehome trouble makers and ones who outgrow the herd. Im doing a fake planted tank....with lots of driftwood and lava rock with the pool sand bottom. We will see how distructive about redecorating they intend to do pretty quickly. Hopefully attaching the silk plants to the heavy pieces of driftwood and back of the tank will discourage.

Found some amazing pieces of wood the other day hiking in the slot canyons in Zion. Carried a huge beautiful branch out with its own cave inside a totally round base too. I'll use my dremel to round out the inside but its PERFECT cichlid / plec size and Im sure it will be claimed pretty quickly.
