It's one he's had for a while. We used to think it was a surgical scar, but it has grown slowly over time. As with the lump we had looked at a few months ago, this one seems to have started growing more rapidly. It is kinda hard, and wraps around the curve of the breast bone, extending both into and outside the chest cavity. It is now, from what I can guesstimate based on the diameter I can find, about the size of a very small orange, but larger than a golf ball. It doesn't feel like it moves very much, which the vet warned us was a warning sign of a fatty lump turning cancerous.

Between the recent post about the poor dog with the humungous lump and Fenris' random sudden change in behavior and elimination habits, I am concerned (and perhaps a little paranoid). The vet warned us when we adopted him that he would be lucky to live past 10 because of his weight issues and his fatty lumps, and he will be 9 in April. And more than a couple of his lumps seem to be growing all of a sudden after 4 years of complete stability. So yeah, paranoia may be playing a role here, but it could also be a real issue.

The last one we had aspirated was non-cancerous, and ran us about $75 for the exam, the aspiration, and the test the vet ran in the back to determine whether it was cancer or not.
