The above history I'm familiar with but it still reads like the history of any color registry and still doesn't answer the question for me as to why it's a breed.  Lopin's reply was the closest explanation regarding the being recognized for it's pedigree first rather than color but still the dilemma in my mind as to how that would make it any more of a breed than for example champagne registered QH could be considered a distinct breed unto themselves even if traced back to a certain lineage.  Maybe what I intrepret to be a breed rather than a characteristic is where I'm having the problem understanding it.
