I think your questions are reasonable, I also think the response is reasonable. The breeder could be crap but she could also be amazing and not feel like she has to justify her whole program to a random person on the internet. I think she may have been a good breeder.

I would do a site visit next time and ask a couple questions then. The history of the bitch as far as management is not your business really. It's the breeders, and it is a business. The breeder should indicate if they raise healthy field dogs or just healthy pets. They also have policies agreements on health if they are good breeders. You could answer many of your questions by going to see the parents and puppies.

Honestly the only question you need to ask right away is what they breed for and when you can come see the site, pedigrees, parents and pups. If they say meet me in a parking lot then you bail.
