My brother has done some research on top of the research that was already done.

What was already known was that my gr-gr-gr uncle went to Hawaii from England and married a Hawaiian girl in 1848. They had one child, he got sick, and went back to England. He sent his brother back to Hawaii to marry his wife, and died. The brother, my gr-gr-gr grandfather, went to Hawaii, married his SIL, and had 10 kids. However, in the time she was husbandless, Mary, the woman, had another baby. More than 9 months after her husband left. There is debate as to who the father is - there are a couple of candidates.

My brother was also telling me about another ancestor - can't remember her relationship - who went missing while paddling in a canoe between Maui and the island of Hawaii, to get to her sick husband or lover or something, can't remember the details. We saw the marker memorializing her in a family cemetery in Hawaii.
