There are a few genealogy sites out there. I was on one but I can't remember which one it was. I think it's way cool to know your ancestry. I look at it as I do a pedigree.
My BIL was into it 40 years ago so I have had both family trees in my possession since I was a teen.
My 2nd Dam is a Greeley, English. Horace Greeley ("Go west young man, go west") is my gr.gr.gr. Uncle. Some really gifted people in this blood. Artistic and intellectual.
Broodmare sire was Canadian, as in French Canadian. My look is definitely French, teeth, eyes, hair, chin, stature.
With a stubborn Norwegian jawline, cheek bones and down turned lips, that make me look angry all the time.
Dad is pure Norske. My brother lives on the original Farmstead.
Gr. gr. grandfather came over on the boat already married. Gr. gr. Grandmother died after the birth of one son, (this son was my gr. grampa) He then married her sister and had 8 more kids. I do not where those people went.
Gr, grampa married, had one son, she also died and he married HER sister. But never had any more kids.
Confusing much?
These were some MEGA tough farm people. Survivors. The struggle stories alone make me proud.
