We have a Chessie, she's about 8 years old now, probably poor breeding (was given her as an older "puppy' with heartworms). She was high energy as a puppy, but matured quickly, much faster then a lab (I've had labs my whole life). I'd say medium-low energy about 2 years old plus. She's hard headed, but once she gets something, she has it vs. most labs I've had. She's also stupid. Really. Its amusing to watch her hunting...she has to see exactly where the bird lands or has a hard time finding it lol.

The biggest thing I can't stand about her is she's extremely protective, she's never bitten anyone, but I've a feeling that it could happen. We used to take her out with us and leave her in the truck while we would run in somewhere if the weather was good, but she started lunging and growling at people walking past, so that doesnt' happen anymore. She is one that you can leave in a truck, and come back hours later and she'll still be there... she LOVES going for rides, if you leave her out in the yard with the tail gate down, you can typically find her waiting in case we decide to go somewhere.

She's also extremely protective of my son, and my neighbors kids

Oh, and she loves water
