But think of the children!

Every child should wear a safety vest and helmet in a car and just think of all the lives that would be saved.
Are you anti-life or something?

We must protect people from themselves at all cost.

Well, I have been called anti-life thanks to some of my political leanings (and I'm not talking about pro-life or pro-choice here), so, I guess it would just depend on who you asked?

You killer you.

Don't you want to protect all the people that don't know any better?
Don't you want to save all the poor and ignorant drivers and passengers out there?

Help me to pass the law that will make it MANDATORY and save the children.

I am also working on a law to prohibit people from carrying sharp objects and and running in hallways.

You're missing the point.  No one here has stated that wearing helmets should be mandatory.  What they are saying is that a person like LP who is in a position where other look up to her should be more responsible with her remarks.  Her reasoning behind why she does not need to wear a helmet is asinine as many people have pointed out even the best trained horses can have accidents.
I would love to see some statistics on that.

People that got hurt that were skilled horseman compared to people that got hurt on horses that were not skilled horseman.

Skilled horseman that were wearing a helmet compared to unskilled that were wearing a helmet.

Of course you would have to argue for about 200 hundred years as to what was the definition of a skilled horseman

If I think of any endeavor that I have undertaken in my life my skill and knowledge was my best safety equipment that I brought to the battle.

Preparation for the medium that I was working with was my greatest hedge against the inherent risk of the task.

There will always be people that need a helmet, goggles,a flack vest, steel toed boots, and welding gloves to make breakfast in the morning.

And of course the children, never forget to save the children.
