I simply cannot think of a reason not to wear a helmet. And looking at Linda's picture, I cannot believe that she thinks protection and equipment indicates an untrained horse.

She doesn't seem to oppose moisture wicking tops and breeches with knee patches or full seats to help her stay in the saddle. She wears boots and chaps to protect her feet and legs. She uses a riding crop to help control and cue the horse. Why the hang-up about the helmet? Linda is already wearing a hat on her head. Presumably this is to keep sun, sweat and hair out of her eyes. Why not wear something that could offer some additional protection? Why not choose all of the equipment that is most functional, instead of choosing the most functional equipment for everything BUT her head?
And as to DD's comments, one shouldn't feed trolls.
