ddr - you never answered my question from pages ago - if someone turns up at your place to ride or take lessons and insists on wearing a helmet, are you going to berate them, call them sissies, sneer, leer and then take their money anyway?

All your Falling Off Correctly classes that you have allegedly taken and taught would NOT have helped at a full gallop in the hunt field when my girth broke (just one example). YOU would have crashed hard as well. Only you would not have had a helmet on - your choice (not quite true as everyone was always required to wear one but you get the point). As it was my choice to wear one that saved my head from (at the minimum) a bad concussion...

Helmets give the ride a false sense of security like car insurance.

Great. So you are one of the uninsured asshats driving around out there? Lovely. Why do you have a cinch, ddr? That must give you a false sense of security and surely a master horseman like yourself can ride everywhere without one...

Personally, I prefer to teach people how to ride a horse, not how to fall off of one.

Don't confuse him, SFTS.

Uh, wait... what? Not sure what country you're in, but this is certainly NOT a rule of the AERC.

No, it isn't - but every ride I have ever worked on or helped friends at (Canada & US) had a MANDATORY helmet rule for that regional organization. No exceptions. I think it is foolish of AERC to not make it mandatory.
