Not entirely true. People were discussing "keeping it for the kids" and how having a different last name than your children related to "paperwork, school, [doctors] and everything [one has] to do as a mom."

My mother also never changed her name when she got married. Would it be more of a hassle to change it if you are a parent? Probably. But just a difference in last names wasn't an issue for the things mentioned above.

ETA: Fixing where I make it seem like my parents are divorced.
